We discuss what dosage of these interventions are best suited for you based on your goals and priorities
Manual therapy
Traditional physical therapy techniques to improve the function of muscles, joints, nerves, fascia, and ligaments
Less common techniques including myofascial release, cupping, vagus nerve stimulation, organ mobilization, internal pelvic floor treatment, etc.
education
Understanding our pelvic floor and the source of our symptoms as well as changing daily habits can go a long way on our healing journey.
This will span a wide variety of topics but most commonly includes:
- Pelvic floor anatomy & function
- Related systems (GI, genitourinary, nervous system, etc.)
- Hormone changes and musculoskeletal pain
- Pain science education || Chronic pain
Activity modification can include making small changes to daily activities including sleep, bathroom, eating & driving habits, and sustained work postures. Understanding why these changes are so impactful is what makes the difference for permanent change.
exercise
Stretches, strengthening, and optimizing body mechanics of functional activities (breastfeeding, picking up kids, running, bowel/bladder function, etc.)
We value creating a home exercise program that is realistic to incorporate into your daily life. Our stretches are more yoga-based as they promote nervous system calming and the exercises emphasize stability to help navigate everyday functional activities.
We also create a variety of both that are easy to quickly sneak in to a daily routine, whether you’re stuck sitting, standing, or laying down for a few minutes. Creating a simple morning and bedtime routine can go a long way to easing symptoms.
nervous system regulation
Understanding the role of our nervous system with stress & muscle tension while finding ways to quiet the mind & relax the body will aid in long term success of symptom relief.
Education is also a large component of understanding how to maintain optimal nervous system activity long-term.
This will include manual therapy techniques we teach in-session for you to perform at home to quiet ‘fight or flight’ activity and increase ‘rest and digest’ activity.
