
Normal can be a tricky word to use — but for the pelvic floor there are some ‘normal’ ranges its daily functions should fall within to prevent or manage any symptoms you may be experiencing:
🧃Bladder
•Empty every 2-4 hours
•No waking at night to go (pregnancy exception)
•NO LEAKING EVER — regardless of age, hormones, stage of life, surgeries
•No intense urgency
•No pushing to empty
🧻 Bowel
•Bowel movement 1-3x a day
•NO STRAINING — NO BREATH HOLDING
•Type 4 on Bristol Stool Chart (google it!)
•No leaking, intense urgency, or excessive wiping
💥Pain
•No pain with ANYTHING EVER
•No pain with bowel, bladder, intimate activities
•No pain with periods, pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause, menopause
•No pain with tampon insertion of pelvic exams
